Paintings

My canvases make reference to places in nature; a forest,
a garden, a tree, evoking a keen awareness of cyclical growth and decay, spontaneity and restraint, I strive to make visible the invisible:
With gestural brushwork, drawing into fields of vibrant color, I want to pull the viewer into rich, lush surfaces, dynamic lyrical organic forms. My own movement and marks on the canvas suggest that of a branch moving in the wind, a dance of life, reflections of light on the water, a joyful celebration of life.

Passages of pure painting, impasto or glazes, offer themselves as touchstones for another reality - glimpses of

Whether or not “reality is present" in a painting, the work has it’s own reality.Turning away from a narrative - a literary narrative - color and brushwork + surface, become  the object of the painting

In music sound has immediate presence. In listening emotions and associations can arrive, alike  what we experience in seeing color. Color can be compared with sound - notes, a painting can become a musical composition or “Improvisation” as Kandinsky titled many of his abstract paintings. The synergy between seeing and an internal listening is what the artist wants to achieve.
